Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye has returned to his alma mater, the Department of Planning at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), to commission the Asenso-Boakye Infrastructure Research Hub.
Speaking at the ceremony, he stated that the facility was established through a collaboration between the Department of Planning and the Bantama Asenso-Boakye Foundation. According to him, the Hub is intended to bridge the gap between academic research, public policy, and infrastructure delivery in Ghana.
He explained that the centre would support research and policy development in key sectors including transport systems, housing, energy, water and sanitation, and digital connectivity.
Hon. Asenso-Boakye further stressed the need for Ghana to adopt a National Highway Master Plan to guide the long-term development of strategic road corridors. He noted that such a plan would ensure continuity in infrastructure planning beyond political administrations.
He expressed gratitude to the university’s leadership, faculty, students, and all stakeholders who contributed to the establishment of the research hub, describing the initiative as an important milestone in linking research to national development.
